What we do
The national committee is the primary representative of the UWC movement in Lebanon. We act as the point of contact between Lebanon and the UWC international organization in London, as well as the various colleges around the world. In addition, the national committee functions as a hub for current and former UWC students.
The committee is made up of volunteers working in accordance with UWC values and criteria. Our volunteers mainly consist of alumni of the program from Lebanon and abroad.
The committee is primarily responsible for the selection of students to participate in the UWC movement through the 2-year IB program at one of 17 colleges worldwide, or UWC short courses (which last 2-4 weeks). This process involves promotion and outreach to communities and schools throughout the country. We aim to select students from diverse backgrounds, with equal consideration given to candidates’ academic potential and character. We then collect and assess application forms and relevant documents and conduct subsequent selection activities for short-listed candidates. For more about our selection process, see ‘How to Apply’. After the process has concluded, we organize orientation events designed to prepare newly selected students for their UWC experience and network with current students and alumni.
